Nick.com 8/03 Transcript (Taylor's part)

Taylor: Hey everybody. Welcome to this chat!

Question: Taylor what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Taylor: Well, Kristina, we do many things on our spare time. One thing is when you travel you get to see a lot of beautiful places so every city you're in you get to see new things then you have the normal things to do. You get to hang out...

Question: Are you planning on going to college after your senior year?
Taylor: I have a lot of different plans. In the situation we're in it's hard to actually be on a campus at college. I'll just have to figure it out when I get there

Question: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to music or making music?
Taylor: That's a really hard one. There are so many things, I like the biggest one that it's not focused on all music. That's the biggest one

Question: Who inspired you to become performers?
Taylor: Another good question! A lot of things as far as music have inspired us. I think as far as performers, the people we have talked about a million times, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin. Those people were also great performers.

Question: What is the strangest most memorable thing a fan has ever given you?
Taylor: Wow... you know, there are so many things people have given us... We get letters saying I was going to kill myself and your music changed my life... I think it's pretty hard to beat that.

Question: Taylor, do you ever read poetry and if so who is your favorite poet?
Taylor: Lets see ... probably Henry Wadswroth Longfellow and you cant go wrong with Shakespeare.

Question: When you go to places like Sea World do you get to go on the rides?
Taylor: Well we haven't actually been to Sea World ... but when we do go to amusement parks and things like that we try to get in on a bit of the crazy ride action!

Question: Could you explain the glassy surface verse from "A Song To Sing."
Taylor: Well, the question is, Andromeda (her user name), what explanation do you want? That poem was a verse but was cut out of the last verse on the album. It means a lot of things. I think an explanation might be too long for a chat!

Question: What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you on stage?
Taylor: When your on stage, first of all, you have to go with the flow no matter what. But one of the things I remember, was really early on I used to have really baggy shorts and keeping them from falling to my ankles was a struggle. It got really close!

Question: Why did you wait so long to release This Time Around?
Taylor: Really, the way This Time Around came together was a very natural process. I don't think we would have waited so long, but in the end we felt very good about the timing and the outcome and I guess that's the important thing.

Question: Do you ever think what would I be doing now if I hadn't gone into the music business?
Taylor: Those thoughts cross your mind sometimes but I cant imagine doing anything else!

Question: Tay, do you find it hard to wake up after you perform a killer concert or is it easy when you think of all us diehard fans waiting to see you?
Taylor: Whenever you do a concert and the fans are excited and your excited you always leave with a buzz, and whenever you get done with a show like that it leaves you excited for the next.

Moderator: Thanks for joining us Taylor!

Taylor: Thanks everybody for chatting! Thanks for your awesome questions! I hope we'll see you at a show in the next couple of months and I'm going to pass it onto Zac!
